Religious Society of Friends



Who We Are

The Madison Monthly Meeting of the Religious Society of Friends was formed in 1938 from a group that had been worshiping since the 1920s. It is affiliated with the Northern Yearly Meeting, which is composed of monthly meetings in Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, Michigan, and North and South Dakota. We are also part of Friends General Conference, an association of 14 yearly meetings and 6 directly affiliated monthly meetings. About 120 members and attenders worship at our Meetings for Worship each First Day (Sunday), where child care and a First Day school is provided. We also offer additional opportunities for worship:

Madison Monthly Meeting offers numerous opportunities for worship in the Madison area.

  • At the Meetinghouse, 1704 Roberts Court, Madison, 256-2249.
    • Meeting for Worship takes place:
      • Each First Day [Sunday] at 9 and 11 AM
      • Each Fourth Day [Wednesday] at 7:15 AM,and 5:15 PM.
        We have laid down our noon and 8:00 PM meetings.
    • Meeting for Prayer occurs on the first Third Day [Tuesday] at 7:30 PM in the small meeting room.
    • First Day School meets at 11:15 AM each First Day. Children join adults for the first 15 minutes of worship.
    • Child Care for infants and toddlers is provided in the nursery each First Day during 9 and 11 AM meetings.

    • Additionally, we have the following worship groups under our care:
      • Sand Ridge (western Dane County): 1st & 3rd First Days, 9 AM. Call Agnes Kanikula and Brian Evans, 608-767-2885.
